History

Undergraduate Civil Engineering Study Program of Civil Engineering and Planning Department of Kalimantan Institute of Technology was born together with the establishment of Kalimantan Institute of Technology. The history of the establishment of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology is based on the implementation of key strategies in the field of national Human Resources (HR) and Science and Technology (Science and Technology) capabilities in the Kalimantan Economic Corridor as compiled in the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development 2011-2025. In addition to the Polytechnic, until 2012 East Kalimantan only had one state university, Mulawarman University, located in Samarinda. Given the wealth of natural resources and the increasing population, the addition of State Universities  is needed to support the development and development of the region, especially Kalimantan.

ITK Civil Engineering Study Program was established together with 4 other study programs namely Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Shipbuilding Engineering, and Chemical Engineering which are pilot study programs. ITK Civil Engineering Study Program started lectures from its inception until 2014 on the ITS Surabaya campus. In 2015 the academic activities and lecture process was moved to ITK Karang Joang Campus, Balikpapan.
