The field of interest

Areas of expertise related to the analysis and design of a structure. The structure is a series of two or more basic elements such as beams, plates, columns, tension or compression rods, trusses, portals, shells and others. In other words, the structural engineer determines the configuration of the various elements that make up the structure and designs (determining the size, shape and type of material) these elements so that they meet the level of strength and comfort, without compromising economic considerations.

Structures study the problem of structural analysis by studying the structure against the loads acting on it. Some examples of buildings that are included in the field of structural engineering are buildings, housing, bridges, overpasses, tunnels, transmission line towers, port facility structures (docks, warehouses and breakwaters), dam body structures and so on.
